Kids do need to be accompanied by an adult please.

We recommend that you book your trip on a day early in your stay so that you have time to reschedule in the event we have to cancel due to weather.

Rain isn’t usually a problem for us. We don’t cancel/reschedule if rain is forecast or if it is raining. There is often less rain at sea than on the land, and cloud cover often improves the catch rate on many species.

It’s always a good idea to bring a raincoat.

Quality left or right-handed Penn and Shimano rods and reels, bait, tackle, sunscreen, soft drinks, iced water, biscuits, tips and assistance from your skipper and deckhand.

Your legal captures can be released, shared or kept by you, your kept fish are bled, gutted, iced down and bagged.

We need a minimum of 6 people to go ahead with a charter, but not to worry as we build the group and rarely have to cancel for low numbers.

Booking for our Gold Coast fishing tours as a solo fisho, twos, threes, etc is no problem.

In the event we do not reach our minimum required numbers, you will have the choice to either reschedule or receive a refund.

  • Your own bottle of water, as well as something pre-packaged and ready to eat (muesli bar, sandwich, packet of chips/biscuits, fruit etc).
  • Wear practical clothing that can get wet, dirty and fishy, and bring a spray jacket/raincoat all year round. In winter, wear layers so you are warm, but able to remove layers as the sun warms things up.
  • Enclosed shoes are a great idea, but it’s your choice on what footwear you wear. Keep in mind your shoes are likely to get wet.
  • Any important personal medications (eg. Asthma puffer, epi pen).
  • Camera, hat and sunglasses.
  • A bag to keep all of your belongings together in the cabin.
  • An empty esky/cooler to leave in your car to take your fish home in after we put them in a plastic bag.

On the 5 hour Gold Coast fishing tours (our most popular trip), we go up to 11 kilometers offshore. Fishing locations are decided on the day, and depend on the weather, target species and what’s been on the bite.

We can fish anywhere from 2 – 20km from the Gold Coast Seaway.

It is only 15 minutes to the first Pacific Ocean rocky reef, a proven hot spot only two kilometres out, for Spanish and spotted mackerel, jewfish and tuna, as well as the occassional cobia and even marlin. Most reefs are only 10 minutes apart.

  • We fish all year round, mainly over rocky reefs from 2-20km from the Seaway.
  • We fish depths from 15 to 70 meters.
  • Target fish are Mackerel, Cobia, Kingfish, Jewfish, Tuna, Snapper, Teraglin, Tusk Fish, Tailor, Flathead, Cod, Perch, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo and many other rocky reef fish.
  • As a general rule, we fish where we had the best bite on our last trip.
  • Fishing techniques are varied between weighted paternoster rigs, float lining dead baits, live bait, strip bait/fillets of freshly caught legal size bait fish, high speed metal lure spinning and lure trolling – whatever is working the best on the day or days prior.
  • If unfamiliar with those terms, don’t let that “fish speak” worry you, we gladly assist/coach as required.
  • Autumn, winter, and spring often has the most comfortable mild weather, approximately 20 degrees day temperature. Summer has typical tropical weather, often with cooling afternoon sea breezes giving approximately 30 degrees day temp. In summer and autumn, we encounter more Mackerel, Marlin, Wahoo, MahiMahi. Winter and Spring are our best times for Snapper, Cobia/Black Kingfish and Tuna. Other listed species can be caught all year round.

Yes, you choose to either release, keep or share your legal captures. Kept fish are gutted and iced down, plastic bags are provided if required.

It is a good idea to leave an esky/cooler/bucket in your vehicle to put your bagged fish in after the trip.

  • Yes, you can bring your own fishing gear and food/drinks, sunscreen, etc on our Gold Coast fishing tours. If your fishing gear is not suitable to work in with the rest of the fishing plan, the crew will let you know and you will be able to use our gear.
  • We are a family friendly experience. We love to see a drink shared between friends while wetting a line, but we do ask that alcohol is consumed in moderation only. Any signs of unsafe behavior, i.e. obvious drunken stumbling, falling down, swaying outboard the gunwale, roughhousing, lurid and unsociable behavior will result in the trip being terminated prematurely by the crew.
